"I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed as Music Director of the Exeter University Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Orchestra, and I look forward to working with these tremendous groups of young people over the forthcoming seasons."
Tim began conducting in his teens and went on to study Music and French at the University of Exeter. He studied violin performance with Mary Eade and specialised in composition with Joe Duddell and Musical Direction with Ian Mitchell.
Graduating in 2007 with a First Class degree, he has subsequently conducted a wide variety of both vocal and instrumental ensembles. These have included Exeter University Chamber Orchestra, with whom Tim was the associate conductor for several years, Exeter Gospel Choir, Exeter University Concert Band, and a chamber ensemble which he formed last year, the EX4 Chamber Orchestra. It has been his pleasure to guest conduct the EMG Symphony Orchestra on occasion and he was the Music Director of the Exeter University Brass Ensemble from 2011 to 2017.
He particularly enjoys working with ensembles of varying degrees of experience with the classical repertoire and is a firm believer that classical music should be made as accessible as possible to both performers and the wider audience.
